Lutheran World Relief accepts donations of “school kit” backpacks which they distribute around the globe to school-aged children (https://lwr.org/instructions).
The St. John’s children’s Sunday school plans to assemble LWR backpacks on Sunday, October 16, 2022. We hope to make another 100 bags this year.
We need: 349 70-sheet notebooks (wide or college rule)
75 30-cm rulers (inches on one side and centimeters on the other)
97 pencil sharpeners
90 scissors (blunt or safety tips)
77 2.5-inch erasers
25 16 or 24 count box of crayons
499 ball point pens (black or blue, no gel-pens)
New items only are needed with no patriotic or religious symbols on them. You can buy a lot or just a few items or make a monetary donation that will allow us to purchase anything necessary to complete our kits. Donations can be left in the designated bin in the narthex. Items will be collected from Sunday, July 3rd until Sunday, October 2nd .
