Christian Education Committee
Blessed with children, youth and adults who love to learn about God, the world and what it means to live a life of faith, Christian Education oversees an active Sunday School for children and adults, First Bible for third graders, First Communion for fifth graders, an amazing Vacation Bible School with its complementary Afternoon Adventures, and the awarding of the St. John’s Scholarships.
Our beautiful St. John’s Columbarium a place of rest, peace and hope is managed by our Columbarium Committee. The Garden Party also assists in caring for and maintaining the Columbarium Garden.

The Electronics Committee provides ongoing maintenance and support of the various sound systems, electronic systems, telephone system, audio-visual equipment and computer systems.

Sharing the gift of hospitality is the role of the Fellowship Committee. They manage the kitchen, keeping it well stocked for our weekly coffee hour and summer fellowship in the Garden. They plan and organize churchwide events including Dinner and a Movie, Spaghetti Dinners to benefit various Phoenixville non-profit organizations, a Shove Tuesday Pancake Supper and Games, Easter Breakfast, St. John’s Choir and Friends Reception and the Annual Thanksgiving Feast. They believe in the miracle of loaves and fishes and that there’s always enough food for everyone to come and enjoy with leftovers too.

Regular activities of the Finance Committee include reviewing the income and expenses of the Congregation, the endowed funds, organizing and maintaining counting teams and working with Council to prepare the annual budget.

Our Property Committee is responsible for the upkeep of the building and grounds. They seek to do as many of the projects with “in house” skills and talent. With teams of grass cutters and gardeners, the Garden Party lovingly cares for our lawns and gardens. Snow removal volunteers help out after winter storms as the building is widely used by the congregation and community. A group of retirees, the Codgers Brigade, assists with small repairs and improvements.

Social Ministry Committee
The mission of the Social Ministry Committee is to show the love of Christ through acts of caring and concern for church members, the community and the world, and to make known or available the means to enhance other people’s lives. The committee oversees a variety of ministries including: Stephen Ministers, Refugee Resettlement, Young at Heart, Knitting Club, Africa Task Force which includes support of our missionaries, Dr. Mark and Linda Jacobson, along with Selian Hospital and Arusha Lutheran Medical Center, Fair Trade Sales and the Angel Tree Project which provides full scholarships to five girls to attend the Maasae Girls Lutheran Secondary School in Monduli, Tanzania. The Committee also involves the congregation is short-term projects as well as oversees the distribution of our endowed outreach funds.

St. John’s Circle of Life Fund Committee
This a long-term, sustained fund to benefit the congregation and support St. John’s now and far into the future. The fund is being created by the members and friends of St. John’s who generously support needs beyond the scope of our current thinking either for St. John’s and our community. The Fund Committee manages the growth of the designated funds and directs financial contributions to be distributed as needed

St. John’s Stephen Ministry Team serves our congregation and community with continued love and concern by walking beside those experiencing difficult challenges and providing support as pain, disappointment or sorrow is faced.

This Committee is responsible for developing and encouraging the offerings of time, talent and money that support our ministries here at St. John’s. That includes educating ourselves and the congregation about the biblical imperative for giving, motivating ourselves and the congregation to give form our resources and providing the mechanisms to make our offerings.

The mission of our Welcoming Team is to lead the congregation in sharing our faith in Christ through intentional welcome into a God-centered parish life. The team advertises events and holidays through a variety of means within the congregation and the community of Phoenixville. The teams also coordinates The WAY — our program for those who are interested in joining St. John’s.
