Special Ceremonies

Baptisms
Baptisms take place during our Saturday Evening Light Worship at 5 p.m. or during Sunday worship at 8 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. and in June, July and August at 9 a.m.  Individuals desiring baptism as well as parents seeking baptism for their children meet with the pastors and are encouraged to participate in The WAY.

Presentations of Bibles
One of the promises made by parents and the congregation at baptism of a child is to “place in holy scripture in their hands.”  Our “First Bible” class for our third-grade children and their parents takes place during the Sunday school hour in October.  Bibles are presented on the last Sunday of that month, which is traditionally Reformation Sunday.  For more information contact Pastor Skyle Rea by email at pastorskrea@gmail.com or by calling (610) 933-3947.

First Holy Communion
Everyone is invited to receive Holy Communion at St. John’s, which means that children are welcome to receive the sacrament.   We believe parents are the best judge of when their child should begin receiving communion.  However, we want all children to be given the opportunity for a specific time of education which takes place during the fall of their fifth-grade year.  For more information contact Pastor Skyle Rea by email at pastorskrea@gmail.com or by calling (610) 933-3947.

DSC08278Confirmation
Confirmation at St. John’s involves three years of learning, serving, playing, and worshiping.  Seventh and eighth graders concentrate on Holy Scripture–exploring the Old Testament one year and the New Testament the next.  Ninth graders learn theology with Martin Luther’s Small Catechism as their basic tool.  Beyond Sunday morning learning events, confirmation includes a “lock-In” each September with a fall/winter retreat as well as a spring one at Cape May, New Jersey.  Ninth graders are confirmed on Pentecost Sunday .  For more information contact Pastor Skyle Rea by email at pastorskrea@gmail.com or by calling (610) 933-3947.
