There are presently two primary “women’s groups” — the Mary-Martha Circle of the Women of the ELCA, and the Sunday Morning Book Club. Other groups of women occasionally come together for short-term projects and studies, too.
The mission of the Mary Martha Circle is to mobilize women to act boldly on their faith in Jesus Christ. As a community of women created in the image of God, called to discipleship in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our callings, engage in ministry and action, and promote healing and wholeness in the church, the society, and the world.
We live our Mission by:
Serving in our Congregation
Coordinating and serving funeral luncheons
Remembering our shut-ins with cards and Christmas presents
Serving in our Community
Contributing to the
Good Samaritan Men’s Shelter
Serving in our Synod and National Church
Giving Thank Offerings
Partnering with the women of the Chester County Cluster
Serving in our World
Making health kits and school kits for Church World Service
Supporting Selian Lutheran and Arusha Lutheran Hospitals in Tanzania
Advocating for social justice
You are invited to join in praying, learning, giving, sharing, growing, eating, studying,
wondering, caring, loving, singing, listening, serving, worshiping, supporting and laughing.
The Mary Martha Circle meets each month from September through May on the fourth Tuesday at 10:30 a.m.
Sunday Morning Book Club
The Book Club has been going strong since 2001, when it first gathered to read The Red Tent. Since then they have read over 100 books from a variety of genres. The club meets on Sunday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the Pastor’s office from September through May. Together they decide what books they are going to read. Discussion is always lively with much laughter. Beyond Sunday mornings, the club gathers for evenings at the movies, particularly enjoying films on books they have read together. They also enjoy home meetings during the summer months. New readers are always welcome.
