Four Bones, A Premier Trombone Quartet

Our 2026-2027 Concert Series kicks off at 1 pm, Sunday, August 2 featuring Four Bones, a premiere trombone quartet dedicating to highlighting the power, versatility, and artistry of the trombone. Combining technical mastery with dynamic stage presence, Four Bones delivers performances that captivate audiences and elevate the perception of brass chamber music.

Formed by four accomplished trombonists, Scott Cullen, Ron Evans, Jim Olson, and Will Shafer, all with a shared passion for innovation and excellence, Four Bones brings together a diverse repertoire that spans classical masterpieces, jazz standards, and contemporary works. Each performance is a celebration of the instrument’s expressive range – from rich, resonant harmonies to dazzling virtuosic passages.

“Our mission is to push the boundaries of what a trombone ensemble can achieve,” said Will, founding member of Four Bones. “We want to connect with audiences through music that is both artistically profound and emotionally engaging.”

Four Bones will also be accompanying worship that morning by playing Prelude, Offering, and Postlude music in addition to helping accompany the hymns.
