Ministry Teams

All our Ministry Teams welcome and delight in new volunteers.  Participating in a team is a great way to serve God and neighbor, make lasting friendships and be a significant part of the St. John’s community.  Please connect with the ministry team chairperson for more information.

Faith Formation Committee
Blessed with children, youth and adults who love to learn about God, the world and what it means to live a life of faith, Faith Formation oversees an active Sunday school for children and adults, First Bible for third graders, First Communion for fifth graders, an amazing Vacation Bible School with  Afternoon Adventures, confirmation and events for youth, and the awarding of the St. John’s Scholarships.

Columbarium Committee
Our beautiful St. John’s Columbarium, a place of rest, peace and hope, is managed by our Columbarium Committee.  The Garden Party also assists in caring for and maintaining the Columbarium Garden.

Electronics Committee
The Electronics Committee provides ongoing maintenance and support of the various sound systems, electronic systems, telephone system, audio-visual equipment and computer systems.

Fellowship Committee
Sharing the gift of hospitality is the role of the Fellowship Committee.  They manage the kitchen, keeping it well stocked for our weekly coffee hour and summer fellowship in the garden.  They plan and organize churchwide events including dinner and a movie nights, spaghetti dinners to benefit various Phoenixville non-profit organizations, a Shove Tuesday pancake supper and games, Easter breakfast, St. John’s Choir and Friends reception and the annual Thanksgiving feast.  They believe in the miracle of loaves and fishes and that there’s always enough food for everyone to come and enjoy with leftovers too.

Finance Committee
Regular activities of the Finance Committee include reviewing the income and expenses of the congregation, the endowed funds, organizing and maintaining counting teams and working with our council to prepare the annual budget.

Property Committee
Our Property Committee is responsible for the upkeep of the building and grounds.  They seek to do as many of the projects with “in house” skills and talent.  With teams of grass cutters and gardeners, the Garden Party lovingly cares for our lawns and gardens.

Social Ministry Committee
The mission of the Social Ministry Committee is to show the love of Christ through acts of caring and concern for church members, the community and the world, and to make known or available the means to enhance other people’s lives.  The Committee oversees a variety of ministries including:  Stephen Ministers, Refugee Resettlement, Knitting Club, Africa Task Force which includes support of our missionaries, Dr. Mark and Linda Jacobson, along with Selian Hospital and Arusha Lutheran Medical Center, Fair Trade Sales and the Angel Tree Project which provides full scholarships to five girls to attend the Maasae Girls Lutheran Secondary School in Monduli, Tanzania.  The Committee also involves the congregation is short-term projects as well as oversees the distribution of our endowed outreach funds.

Stephen Ministry
St. John’s Stephen Ministry Team serves our congregation and community with continued love and concern by walking beside those experiencing difficult challenges and providing support as pain, disappointment or sorrow is faced.

Stewardship Committee
This Committee is responsible for developing and encouraging the offerings of time, talent and money that support our ministries here at St. John’s.  That includes educating ourselves and the congregation about the biblical imperative for giving, motivating ourselves and the congregation to give form our resources and providing the mechanisms to make our offerings.

This committee is responsible for planning, executing, and providing support for all worship service and special concert events.
