St. John’s invites listeners to experience music of the holiday season with the exceptional Philadelphia Handbell Ensemble, 4 p.m, Sunday, December 5th. The program features three versions of Sleigh Ride: the well-known Leroy Anderson tune, the 18th century sleigh ride minuet by Mozart, and the 1934 sleigh ride movement from “Lieutenant Kije” by Sergei Prokofiev. But wait . . . there’s more! From a wide array of Christmas carols (It Came Upon the Midnight Clear, Stille Nacht, Masters in this Hall, What Child Is This, and more) to the coquettish “Santa Baby” and the charming “White Christmas,” we will send you into night with the warmth of delightful music. There is no admission charge; however, a freewill offering will be received. Masks are required of all audience members.
