For 24 years the Phoenixville Area Social Concerns Committee has held a Community Prayer Breakfast on the first Saturday in April in memory of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This year’s breakfast will be on Saturday, April 7th beginning at 8 a.m. in the Phoenixville Area Middle School Cafeteria. The theme is “The Value of Diversity” with the Rev. Jim Wallis, the Founder of Sojourners, serving as the Keynote Speaker. During the breakfast three awards will be presented: The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Humanitarian Award, the Emma Valenteen Award of “Compassion,” and the Ruby Armour “Love Thy Neighbor” Award to community members who preserve and protect the quality of life that was the dream of Dr. King. Tickets are $12 each and can be obtained through Pastor Krommes or at the Phoenixville Community Health Foundation, 821 Gay Street, Phoenixville.
