Baptisms
Baptisms take place during our worship services. Individuals desiring baptism as well as parents seeking baptism for their children meet with the Pastor.
Presentations of Bibles
One of the promises made by parents and the congregation at baptism of a child is to “place in holy scripture in their hands.” Our “First Bible” class for our third-grade children and their parents takes place during the Sunday school hour. Bibles are presented on the last Sunday of that month, which is traditionally Reformation Sunday.
First Holy Communion
Everyone is invited to receive Holy Communion at St. John’s, which means that children are welcome to receive the sacrament. We believe parents are the best judge of when their child should begin receiving communion. However, we want all children to be given the opportunity for a specific time of education.
Confirmation
Confirmation at St. John’s involves two years of learning, serving, playing, and worshiping. Beyond Sunday morning learning events, confirmation includes a “lock-In” each September with a fall/winter retreat as well as a spring one at Cape May, New Jersey. Confirmation usually takes place on Pentecost Sunday.
