About 673 million people around the world are facing hunger. Rise Against Hunger works with Hunger Champions—like Muhlenberg Parish volunteers—to end hunger in remote, last-mile communities.
A Rise Against Hunger Experience event provides lasting, real-life impact as a group works together for a start-to-finish meal assembly experience to combine rice, soy, dehydrated vegetables and a packet of 18 vitamins and minerals into life-changing meal packages. The food stores easily, transports quickly and has a long shelf-life to help meet the immediate nutritional needs of people facing food insecurity, paving the way toward resilient and bright futures!
Muhlenberg Parish will:
· Raise money for the meals—our combined goal of $6,100 will provide approximately 15,000 meals
· Host the meal-packing event—Centennial Lutheran will serve as the host, with Zion Lutheran serving as our host location
· Provide about 60 volunteers for the assembly-line packing of meals. Setup will begin at 10 a.m., packing will start at 11:30 a.m. and is expected to last around two hours.
Rise Against Hunger will provide:
· An event facilitator to help manage the event and provide hunger education
· All ingredients and supplies needed for the meals
· An announcement of our meals’ destination once they are shipped
